My Story

Hey, I'm Cam!

I was born in Ottawa, spent parts of my childhood moving around the world, and came back to Kanata at 12. This has been home ever since.

My path to Cadence Painting wasn't a straight line - but looking back it makes complete sense. I studied structural engineering, spent nearly a decade working for a general contractor across institutional, commercial, and residential projects, then started a real estate investment company flipping houses and managing rentals. Working alongside painters on my own properties, I kept noticing the same gap - the technical skill was there, but the professionalism, communication, and consistency rarely was. I knew there was a better way to deliver a painting project.

So I built it.

The name Cadence comes from music - I've been playing guitar and piano since I was 5. In music, cadence is the steady, consistent rhythm that holds everything together. It's also what cyclists call their pedal stroke - that smooth, efficient flow that makes everything feel effortless. Both felt right for what I wanted Cadence Painting to be. Same Quality. When I'm not on a job site you'll find me running, cycling, rock climbing, skiing, or out on the water wakesurfing. I have a bit of an obsession with getting things right - which, if you're trusting someone to paint your home, is probably exactly what you want.

We carry full commercial general liability insurance on every project. That means if anything unexpected happens in your home during the course of our work, you're completely protected. Inviting a contractor into your home requires trust - our insurance coverage is one of the ways we back that up with something concrete. We're happy to provide proof of insurance at any time.

WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY

Every project we complete is backed by a 5 year workmanship warranty. If something isn't right with our work within that period, we come back and fix it. No questions asked. Depending on the products selected for your project, warranty coverage can extend to 7 or 10 years - something we're happy to walk you through during your estimate.
